CATALYST AND METHOD FOR PURIFICATION OF EXHAUST GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst and a method for purification of exhaust gas which enable carrying out the reduction reaction of a nitrogen oxide with ammonia as a reducing agent or the oxidation reaction of ammonia to nitrogen and removal of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons with a single catalyst in an oxygen-excessive atmosphere.

SOLUTION: The catalyst is configured to include a support containing titanium oxide, iron and tungsten and at least one platinum-group metal supported with the support and selected from palladium, iridium and rhodium. The platinum-group metals contained in the catalyst may contain palladium in a mass amount of 0.005-0.025% with respect to the amount of the support.
