PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure an internal volume contributing to cell capacity and thickness of a cell can aperture part contributing to sealing strength, as well as to prevent liquid leakage originating from iron exposed by an ironing treatment at an interface countering the cell can on an upper face of a cathode mixture layer of an alkaline cell. SOLUTION: The alkaline cell 1a includes, accommodated inside of the ferrule-end shaped battery can 2a with its lower end as a bottom, the cathode mixture layer 3 formed into a hollow ring-like core, and an anode gel 5 arranged inside of the ring and separated by a cylindrical cup-shaped separator 4 located between the two, with an anode terminal plate 7 insertion-fitted into an aperture part of a cathode can through a gasket 8. The cell can is formed by a transfer system using a steel sheet at least inside of the same put under nickel plating treatment, and no ironing treatment is carried out on a side surface of the cylindrical cell can between an upper aperture end H2 and a height H1 where the cathode mixture layer is loaded, but the ironing treatment is carried out in a region where the cathode mixture layer is charged.
