PURPOSE: A method for preparing alpha-glycerophosphoryl choline with racemic or optical activity is provided to perform one-opt reaction without separate purification. CONSTITUTION: A racemic or optically active D or L-alpha-glycerophosphoryl choline of chemical formula 1 is prepared by performing ring opening reaction of cholinephosphate of chemical formula 2 or salt thereof and racemic of chemical formula 3 or optically active (S) or (R)-epihalohydrin under the presence of medium. The ring opening reaction is performed at 25-80°C and is activated by base, buffer, Lewis acid, or mixture thereof. The buffer is phosphate buffer, carbonate buffer, acetate buffer, tris buffer, or mixture thereof.
