PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge the dynamic range of a picked-up image, and to improve resolution.

SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: a normalization processing section 35 for generating a normalized image from a low-resolution image; a region extracting section 31 for specifying a first region out of a predetermined luminance range and a second region within the predetermined luminance range for each low-resolution image; an interpolation luminance calculating section 32 for correcting the luminance value of a pixel in the first region of the normalized image while using an interpolation luminance value calculated from the luminance value of a pixel in the second region in a predetermined positional relationship with a pixel in a high-resolution image corresponding to the relevant pixel; a weighting data creating section 34 for weighting the pixel in the first region that each normalized image has, based on the interpolation luminance value; and a dynamic range enlarging super resolution processing section 25 for reducing the degree of contribution in the generation of the high-resolution image for the luminance value of the pixel in the first region when generating the high-resolution image from a group of normalized images in accordance with the weighting.
