<p>A hubcap device (100) for use with a wheel (10) includes a base (110) and a fastener for coupling the base (110) to the wheel (10). The hubcap device (100) includes a spinner member (130) between the base (110) and the cover (120), the spinner member (130) having a light element (136). The hubcap device (100) includes a battery (140) for powering the light element (136) and a processor (142) for actuating the light element (136). An insert (125) is removably coupled to the cover (120), the spinner member (130) being positioned between the insert (125) and the base (110). The hubcap device (100) may include a photocell (144) in communication with the processor (142), the processor (142) including programming to actuate the light element (136) in predetermined light conditions. The device (100) includes an optical sensor (148) coupled to the spinner member (130) to measure a rotational speed of the spinner member (130) relative to a rotational speed of the base (110), the optical sensor (148) providing a relative rotational speed measurement to said processor (142).</p> |
