摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring apparatus and a measuring method which are capable of accurately measuring absorbing characteristics and scattering characteristics of a subject by using acousto-optical tomography. SOLUTION: The measuring apparatus includes a second transducer array 9 for detecting ultrasonic waves transmitted in the subject and acquiring ultrasonic signals; an optical detector 8 for detecting modulated light and unmodulated light and acquiring optical signals; an acoustic quantity analysis unit 14 for computing the distribution of acoustic characteristics inside the subject based on the ultrasonic signals and optical signals, and computing the acoustic quantity in a measured region of the subject based on the distribution of the acoustic characteristics; and an acousto-optical signal analysis unit 15 for finding at least either one of the scattering characteristics and absorbing characteristics by substituting the acoustic quantity computed by the acoustic quantity analysis unit 14 for the degree of modulation.
