<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file server suppressing power consumption of a storage apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: When a file sharing program 3100 receives a file access from a client 1030, the program refers to a mapping table 6000, and processes an access to the target file in a volume of a RAID group in which the target file is stored. An access-request reception program 3110 stores access time for each user into an access history table 8100. A grouping program 3130 groups users whose access time-zones are similar to each other. A data transfer program 3140 transfers, into the same RAID group, data of the files associated with the grouped users, thereby collecting the data of the files into the same RAID group. The time-zone during which no access is made to the RAID group (non-access time-zone) can be made longer.
