ENCODING/DECODING METHOD AND APPARATUS

Disclosed are an encoding/decoding method and apparatus. The encoding apparatus comprises: an encoding unit which encodes data into generated encoded data; a decoder description-generating unit which generates function units (FU) constituting a decoder for decoding the encoded data, and generates a decoder description for the description of a relationship among FUs; an FU list-generating unit which generates and outputs an FU list for FUs constituting the decoder for decoding the encoded data; and a packetizing unit which takes, as an input, the encoded data, and takes, as an input, the decoder description, FU list, and FUs corresponding to the inputted encoded data, packetizes the taken data, decoder description, FU list, and FUs, and outputs the packetized result.
