<p>Prefabricated waterproof membrane comprises a support coated and preferably impregnated with a thermoplastic bituminous composition comprising (wt.%): bitumen (40-90), thermoplastic polyurethane (10-50), aromatic oil (0-10), fillers (0-50) and catalyst (0-0.5). An Independent claim is also included for production of the membrane by applying the hot bituminous composition to the support in one or more coating or impregnation operations, where the bituminous composition is prepared either by: (a) synthesizing a thermoplastic polyurethane prepolymer, adding the prepolymer to molten bitumen, adding a chain extender, the catalyst and the other components, and heating and stirring the mixture until polymerization is complete; or (b) melting the bitumen, adding the polyol(s) and isocyanate for forming the polyurethane, stirring the mixture until the theoretical isocyanate (NCO) content is attained, adding a chain extender, the catalyst and optionally the other components, progressively increasing the temperature to about 180 degrees C, and stirring the mixture until polymerization is complete.</p> |
