PURPOSE: An air conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the parts of a compressor from being damaged due to oil shortage and to enhance the coefficient of performance of a system and compression ability. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner comprises refrigerant intake pipe(111), a plurality of compressors(120a,120b,120c), a plurality of refrigerant discharge pipes(112a,112b,112c), a plurality of oil-distributing pipes(114a,114b,114c), and a controller. The refrigerant in which the oil is mixed flows along the refrigerant intake pipe. The compressors are connected to the refrigerant intake pipe to compress and discharge refrigerant. The refrigerant discharge pipes are connected to the compressors and respectively discharge the refrigerant compressed by the compressors. The oil-distributing pipes comprise capillary pipes(137a,137b,137c) and connect a plurality of compressors to the refrigerant intake pipe. The controller controls the oil-distributing pipes based on the temperatures in the refrigerant discharge pipes and the temperature of the refrigerant passing through the capillary pipes of the oil-distributing pipes. |
