Method and device for realising a diagnosis function

The method involves providing structural component for a central requirement and a display unit (HMI). Diagnostic data i.e. process and/or system diagnostic data, are determined in an automation system (AS1) and provided to a diagnostic server. An automatic analysis of the diagnostic data is carried out for determination of a cause of defect, and an interface is presented at the diagnostic data that are provided in the diagnostic server. The diagnostic data is transmitted to the display device and scaled and displayed corresponding to display capabilities of the display unit. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for storing data for an automation system comprising diagnostic data (2) a display device for displaying diagnostic data.
