<p>The present invention provides for a mobile radio communications device arranged for connection within a cellular communications network and a local area wireless network in which the device is arranged to perform repeated searches for a local area wireless network, and wherein the device includes means for identifying local cells of the cellular communications network and control means arranged to vary the repetition interval of the said repeated searches for a local area wireless network responsive to the number of local cells of the cellular network identified such that, since the relative number/density of local area wireless networks mirrors the relative number/density of local cells of the cellular network, can lead to a power-efficient and responsive control of the local area wireless network search procedure.</p> |
