PURPOSE: A composition for a side dam base member of a twin roll strip casting apparatus is provided to achieve reduced coefficient of thermal expansion and improved chemical stability by comprising mullite, alumina, and a carbon material. CONSTITUTION: A composition for a side dam base member of a twin roll strip casting apparatus comprises zirconia-mulite 10~30 weight%, mullite 30~60 weight%, alumina 10~30 weight%, carbon group powder 5~20 weight%, and a mixture 5~15 weight% consisting of one or two selected from silicon, boron carbide, silicon carbide, silica, and alumina cement. The average particle size of the carbon group powder is 0.1~5 mm. The mullite comprises alumina 70~80 weight% and silica 20~30 weight%.
