PURPOSE: A compressor is provided to enhance the airtightness between a front head and a front cylinder block and between a rear cylinder block and a rear head by forming a plating layer only on the edge of a valve plate. CONSTITUTION: A compressor comprises a head, a cylinder block, a rotary shaft, and valve assembly. An intake chamber and a discharge chamber are formed in the head. The cylinder block is connected to the head and comprises a plurality of cylinder bores. The rotary shaft transfers the power for the linear reciprocating motion of a piston and is installed to be able to rotate through the center of the cylinder block and the head. The valve assembly is installed between the head and the cylinder block and comprises a valve plate(100), a discharge lead, and an intake lead, and gaskets. The valve plate comprises a discharge hole(102a) and an intake hole(102b). The discharge lead and the intake lead are installed on both sides of the valve plate to control the discharge hole and the intake hole, respectively. The gaskets make tight contact with both sides of the valve plate, respectively. Zinc is plated on the edge of the surface of the valve plate pressed between the head and the cylinder block to form a plating layer(104).
