The distribution device (3) has a flat longitudinal face (14) arranged in a plane same as a suspended ceiling (15). A light propagation unit comprises reflecting surfaces formed on longitudinal faces (16-18), and a light passage unit is formed in an end face (19) of the device. Alignment and abutment units (41) align and abut the end face, and permit alignment of the device along a longitudinal axis of another distribution device and abutment of the end face on an end face of the latter device. LEDs are mounted on an inner surface of the face (16). An independent claim is also included for a modular lighting system comprising a light capturing unit.
