PURPOSE: A target extraction device is provided to implement the efficient separation of a target region from a background region by adjusting the distance and size of the background based on an extracted target region. CONSTITUTION: A target region extractor(110) extracts a target region from an input image, and a background region extractor(120) extracts a background region from the input image in consideration of the size of the target region. Based on the target region and the background region, a target extractor(130) extracts the target from the input image. A power unit(140) supplies power to each unit of a target extraction apparatus(100), and a main control unit(150) controls the entire operation of each unit.
