PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved means for producing a recombinant BMP and other TGF-β family proteins in vitro by using prokaryotic or eukaryotic hosts. SOLUTION: A compound of a potential TGF-β family member fusion protein for refolding under an appropriate refolding condition includes an N-terminal truncated TGF-β family protein. In the fusion protein, the truncated TGF-β family protein comprises a TGF-β family protein C-terminal 7 cysteine domain comprising a finger-1 subdomain, a finger-2 subdomain and a heel subdomain; and a scissible modified leader sequence which is movably connected with the C-terminal domain, inhibits biological activities related to the C-terminal domain which is activated when a part or the whole of the leader sequence is truncated.
