The restraint device has a box-shaped cylindrical body (1) positioned in front of a body (8) to-be-protected and connected with a restraining harness (9). Centrifugal forces act on the body and on four three-point connectors (3). The connectors are attached at corner points. The forces provide lever action by fixing the harness at 90 degrees using the connectors such that the restraint device is vertically positioned in front of the body. An air bag (2) allows the body to be centered in a direction of the acting forces during positioning of the restraint device.
