PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to divide a backlight to drive, thereby improving brightness. CONSTITUTION: A backlight unit(200) comprises a plurality of LED(Light Emitting Diode) local blocks(220). A plurality of LED local blocks is independently driven. A plurality of LED local blocks of the same sizes is applied to LCD panels of different sizes. The backlight unit is selectively applied to the LCD panels.
