<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vehicle capable of preventing a rush current flowing from a charger to the vehicle at the start of charging by the charger. <P>SOLUTION: Upon completion of charging by a charger, discharging processing using first and second MGs is executed (S10). In this step, a charger relay is not turned off and the charger is still electrically connected to the vehicle system, and the charger capacitor is discharged by the above discharging processing using the first and second MGs. Upon completion of the discharging processing, a charging ECU determines the charging state (presence or absence of residual charges) of the charger capacitor (S20).
