<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress damages of a lead-acid battery caused when hydrogen gas generated in charging of the lead-acid battery catches fire from a fire-catching source such as electrostatic sparks. <P>SOLUTION: A lead-acid battery status detector, which is electrically connected to a lead-acid battery to detect the status of the lead-acid battery such as the engine start-up performance and the remnant life of the lead-acid battery, includes push switches for turning on/off the operation of the status detector, for switching the display mode of the status detection result, for resetting the internal storage data, or the like. A conductive layer is provided on the surface of each push switch, and the conductive layer is electrically connected to either the positive terminal or the negative terminal. At the time when a checker operates a push switch, static charged on the checker is removed, and this suppresses sparks and damages to the lead-acid battery caused thereby. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
