<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a management device to rapidly perform communication with a target device when there are a first kind of device incompatible with a predetermined protocol and a second kind of device compatible with the protocol. <P>SOLUTION: When a target device that is a target of the current communication is an SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol)v3-compatible device corresponding to both protocols of the SNMPv1 and SNMPv3, the management device identifies the protocol used in the previous communication (S216), determines priority order of the protocols used in the communication with the target device based on the result (S220, S224), and tries to communicate with the target device according to the determined priority order of the protocols. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
