PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that improves the life of an electricity accumulating device by not only achieving a start in a short time from a standby state but also preventing fixing failure during paper passage. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a main power source device; an auxiliary power source device having an electricity accumulating device which is chargeable/dischargeable; a booster circuit which boosts a voltage output from the auxiliary power source; and a fixing device having a fixing member, a pressure member forming a nip portion in contact with the fixing member, and a heating means for heating the fixing member. If power is supplied to the heating means from the main power source device and the auxiliary power source device via the boosting circuit when a starting operation is performed for the image forming operation, the boosting circuit is controlled in a constant voltage mode in which the voltage outputted from the auxiliary power source is boosted so that the supply of power to the heating means from the auxiliary power source may be constant. When paper is continuously passed after the starting operation, the booster circuit is controlled in a constant multiplying power mode in which a voltage outputted from the auxiliary power source is boosted with a prescribed boosting multiplying power.
