<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the period until the completion of printing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The paper size, paper type, and the number of sheets (N) are recognized (100), the arrival time at a fixing target temperature is computed based on the temperature of the present fixing device and fixing temperature increase rate (102 and 104), the period from the start to the completion of the printing is calculated based on the printing condition and conveying speed, and the print completion time is calculated (106 and 108).
