<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor capable of improving the reproduction quality of images, in the image processor for converting monochromatic images to color images. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Image data acquisition processing is executed, and then area discrimination processing is executed (step S2). Then, area data storage processing is executed (step S3). Then, gray area discrimination processing is executed (step S4). Then, gray intensity calculation processing is executed (step S4#). Then, gray area data, which shows the intensity value and position information of an area comprising the calculated gray intensity, is stored (step S5). Then, a reproducing color and a reproducing intensity are determined on the basis of the intensity value (step S6). Then, in the case of being within a character region on the basis of the position information comprising the gray intensity, when the reproducing intensity is equal to or lower than a prescribed value, intensity correction processing for correcting the reproducing intensity is executed (step S7).
