<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feed unit in which a pressing force from a pick-up roller is not applied to a printing medium when it is removed from a printing device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The paper feed unit includes a loading plate 55 for loading a printing medium in a laminated state. The loading plate 55 is swingingly supported around an axial core of a posture parallel to the loading plate 55. Furthermore, the paper feed unit includes: a pick-up roller applying a delivering force in contact with a top face of the printing medium when a delivery-side end of the loading plate 55 is moved upward; an energization mechanism for applying an energization force to the loading plate 55 in a direction for moving the delivery-side end upward; and a lock mechanism L (77A, 71A) holding the delivery-side end of the loading plate 55 at a downward position when the paper feed unit is removed from the printing device.
