<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly cap a nozzle, and to refrain a liquid near the opening of the nozzle from touching the air in the capped nozzle. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The liquid jetting apparatus has (A) a jetting part which includes a nozzle surface 21b with the opening of the nozzle Nz formed therein and jets a first liquid from the nozzle to a medium, (B) a cap member 41 which includes a storage part where a second liquid different from the first liquid is stored and which is in contact with the nozzle surface with the second liquid in the storage part exposed to the nozzle surface, (C) a driving mechanism 42 which slides the cap member 41 along the nozzle surface, and (D) a liquid feed mechanism 43. The driving mechanism slides the cap member so that the opening may be opposed to the medium when the jetting part jets the first liquid to the medium, and slides the cap member so that the opening may be covered with the second liquid in the storage part when the jetting part does not jet the first liquid to the medium.
