PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant for producing a novel support. SOLUTION: The plant for producing a support includes a kneader for kneading a support-component raw material, a solid binder, a liquid binder, and an aqueous solution of dilute nitric acid, a granulator for molding the kneaded material into molded articles, and a device of calcining the molded articles. The support-component raw material includes aluminum hydroxide, pseudo-boehmite, powdered silica gel, powdery natural silica, zeolite, or the like. The solid binder includes Kanbai (Japanese apricot) powder, pregelatinized starch (potato), glue alga, crystalline cellulose, or the like. The liquid binder includes colloidal alumina, colloidal silica, polyvinyl alcohol, or the like. The nitric acid concentration in the aqueous dilute nitric acid solution is in a range of 0.5 to 1.5 mass%. The chlorine concentration in the aqueous dilute nitric acid solution is in a range of not higher than 100 ppm. Wood powder, charcoal powder, rice powder, wheat flour, corn, or the like is blended as a combustible agent. The granulator molds the kneaded material into molded articles by squeezing the kneaded material between a molding roller and a squeezing plate.
