<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error correcting reception device that can efficiently correct an error without making a circuit scale large. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The error correcting reception device 1 includes a plurality of systems of reception processing sections 10, which perform demapping (11), Viterbi decoding (12), de-interleaving (13), and RS decoding (14) on data from a transmission device. Then, the error correcting reception device 1 performs interleaving (22) and convolutional encoding (23) on data after the RS decoding, compares data after the demapping and data after the convolutional encoding to generate likelihood data to data after the demapping (24), and performs de-interleaving (26) and RS decoding (27) after performing Viterbi decoding (25) again based on the likelihood data. In so doing, the error correcting reception device 1 includes an error correction processing switching section 6 which allows a Viterbi decoding section 12, a de-interleaving section 13, and an RS decoding section 14 of another system not in use to operate as a Viterbi re-decoding section 25, a re-de-interleaving section 26, and an RS re-decoding section 27 of one system.
