<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the sealing performance of a joined part of the friction stir welding. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing a liquid-cooled jacket 1, a sealing body 30 for sealing an opening part 12 of a recess 11 is fixed by the friction stir welding to a jacket body 10 having the recess with a part thereof being opened while a heat transport fluid for transporting the heat generated by a heat generating body to the outside flows. A supporting surface 15a of the sealing body 30 consisting of a step bottom face descended from its surface is formed on an opening peripheral edge 12a of the recess 11 of the jacket body 10, a recessed groove 20 is formed in the supporting surface 15a, and the sealing body 30 is loaded on the supporting surface 15a. While a step side surface 15b of the jacket body 10 is butted to an outer circumferential surface 30b of the sealing body 30, a rotary tool 50 makes a turn along a butted part 40 of the step side surface 15b and the sealing body 30, and a plasticized area 41 is formed in the butted part.
