PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a post for a fence forming no clearance between the upper end face of the post and a post cap on the front end side of the upper end face when mounting the post cap on the upper end face even if the upper end face is formed to incline slightly. SOLUTION: A rear part of the post cap 3 is provided with a threaded hole 33 through which a fixing screw B is inserted, and a rear part of the upper end face 21 of a post body 2 is provided with a screw hole 22 corresponding to the threaded hole 33 of the post cap 3. The inner surface of the post cap 3 is formed with an inclined face 23a to gradually enlarge a clearance S between itself and the upper end face 21 of the post body 2 so that the tip part of the post cap 3 is mounted in a forward inclined state to the upper end face 21 of the post body 2 when fastening the fixing screw B screwed into the screw hole 22 from the threaded hole 33.
