The method involves supplying a carrier gas to a jet nozzle (1), which comprises a converging section (7) towards a narrow point (6), and a diverging section (8). Water or other fluid substance from the jet nozzle is metered before, in or after the narrow point of the jet nozzle in a carrier gas flow. Mixture of the carrier gas and/or the water and/or other fluid substance is accelerated with approximately sound velocity and/or supersonic velocity. Flow speed of the mixture is varied by a throttle valve (10) in a fluid supply (2) and/or the throttle valve in a carrier gas supply (9). An independent claim is also included for a device for cleaning a sensitive surface made of graphite, sensitive coating of soft plastic material and thin metallic part.
