PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a foamable thermoplastic resin particle which can reduce production cost. SOLUTION: This method for producing a foamable thermoplastic resin particle includes bringing a thermoplastic resin particle into contact with and impregnated with a liquid volatile foaming agent in the absence of a dispersion medium while the plastic resin particle is immersed beneath the liquid level of the volatile foaming agent to obtain a foamable thermoplastic resin particle.
