<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IC card that allows a user to easily store the latest record data and record data of multiple generations before update while efficiently using a storage region of a data memory and to read out data by a simple procedure. <P>SOLUTION: The IC card 1 has a data memory 14 that stores a record file storing a plurality of record data. When the IC card receives a command to rewrite specific record data in the record file, from an external apparatus 2, the pre-rewrite record data of the record data to be rewritten are stored in the record file as backup data.
