PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development device capable of securely making a developer carrier in contact with an image carrier with a relatively small energizing force. SOLUTION: The development device includes: the developer carrier 3 that supplies a developer to an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier 1 to develop the electrostatic latent image; a support member 9 rotatably supporting the developer carrier 3; a guide 10 that guides the support member 9 so that this member 9 is moved close to the image carrier 1 or separated therefrom; and an energizing member 8 that energizes the support member 9 so that the support member 9 is moved toward the image carrier 1.
