PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a gyro positioning system for detecting an orientation by using two gyro sensors. SOLUTION: In a gyro head 1, two gyro sensors 15, 16 are attached to both ends of an elongated bedplate 14 in the pitch direction and the yaw direction. Both ends are rotatably attached to a pipe casing 10 so as to be eccentric from a support shaft. A position and a trajectory of a tunnelling head are detected from distance information obtained by an encoder for detecting the feed quantity of the gyro head 1. One gyro sensor can be eliminated among three orthogonal axis directions, thereby equipment and calculation are simplified, and the efficiency of a tunnelling work is improved.
