<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binding device for binding an object to be bound, consisting of bar-like articles by a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape which can sufficiently reduce an installation space in plan view, and prevent the object to be bound from being damaged. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The binding device includes: a conveying mechanism 2 for conveying the object P to be bound, which has a bucket 24 of a substantially U-shaped section with the object P consisting of bar-like articles being stacked therein; and a binding mechanism 3 which is arranged in the middle of a conveying passage of the conveying mechanism 2 to bind the object P to be conveyed by the conveying mechanism 2 with the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape 31. In the conveying mechanism 2, the bucket 24 is mounted on a chain 23 stretched in an endless manner to a driving gear 21 and a driven gear 22 arranged in the vertical direction so that a U-shaped open portion ascends diagonally upwardly, and a U-shaped open portion descends diagonally downward. In the binding mechanism 3, the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape 31 binds the object P from the outer direction of the U-shaped open portion of the descending bucket 24 of the conveying mechanism 2 in a packaging manner.
