PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system which can control a face mount display so that an image can be seen on a big screen while paying attention to the safety and the degree of freedom of a user, and to provide a camera for use in such a camera system, and a face mount display. SOLUTION: A state detection unit 109 detects whether a user mounting an FMD 200 has a camera 100 or not. When the user has a camera 100, the control unit 101 of the camera 100 transmits an image obarined through an image capturing unit 104 to the FMD 200 through a communication unit 108. When an image from the camera 100 is received, the control unit 201 of the FMD 200 displays the image thus received on the display unit in an optical system 206, and brings a shutter in the optical system 206 into light blocking state.
