<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound output device and sound output method, which even if a third party has entered a conference room or the like, can prevent leakage of information caused by sound to the third party having entered the room, without interruption of a conference. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A room-enter/leave management section 12 transmits an unlock confirmation signal to a monitor control section 34 if an employee code read by a room-enter/leave monitoring section 21 is registered in a participation list of a conference room reservation information 62. When receiving the unlock confirmation signal, the monitor control section 34 stops output of sound and limits sound output from a loudspeaker 36 through a control section 35 so as to realize only right-side or left-side hearable condition for an observer directed to a monitor in accordance with "setting scheme" set in control setting information, and thereafter transmits "unlock enable signal" to the room-enter/leave management section 12. The room-enter/leave management section 12, when receiving the "unlock enable signal", transmits a signal for unlocking a door to the room-enter/leave monitoring section 21 having read the employee code and causes a locking section 22 to unlock the door.
