PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chelating material having magnetic susceptibility, which can collect, remove, concentrate and recover metal ions easily, safely and efficiently from industrial effluent, river water or ground water by using a magnetic separation technique, which has excellent magnetic susceptibility since the magnetic material content ratio thereof is high and which can be produced by a safe method. SOLUTION: The chelating material having magnetic susceptibility consists of a magnetic particle-encapsulated microcapsule and is characterized in that a film of the microcapsule has chelating groups via a dendrimer-grafted structure.
