PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for properly discriminating a "night view" scene. SOLUTION: When a night view scene is discriminated once, a control unit 102 changes a block ratio for matching a Bv value within a screen and a threshold of overall luminance with color information and luminance information within a night view detection area so as not to discriminate that a scene is not the night view scene, because of a little change in image information (S11). The control unit 102 changes a motion condition of a subject (S12). The control unit 102 discriminates whether or not a notice of a signal SW1 is received from a shutter switch (S13) and when the notice of the signal SW1 is not received from the shutter switch, scene discrimination is performed again. At such a time, the control unit 102 resumes the scene discrimination from processing for detection a motion of the subject. If a scene is discriminated as a "night view" scene, while the scene is discriminated as a "night view", the control unit 102 does not obtain motion information of a photographing device in scene discrimination and obtains only the motion information of the subject.
