<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency the processing of detecting the position of the characteristic section of the face included in an image, and also accelerate the speed thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The image processor for detecting the coordinate position of the characteristic section of the face included in an attentional image includes a facial area detection section for detecting an image area including at least a section of a face image from the attentional image as a facial area; a setting section for setting a characteristic point for detecting the coordinate position of the characteristic section to the attentional image, on the basis of the facial area; a selection section for selecting a characteristic amount to be used for correcting the setting position of the characteristic point from the plurality of characteristic amounts calculated, on the basis of a plurality of sample images including the face image for which the coordinate position of the characteristic section is known; and a characteristic position detecting section for correcting the setting position of the characteristic point so as to be close to the coordinate position of the characteristic section using the selected characteristic amount and detecting the corrected setting position as the coordinate position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
