Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the method for the surface treatment of the collector 1 for a lithium ion battery which forms a surface film 3 on a surface of a collector substrate 2, discharge light 17 generated when the film is formed is used as a light source, the film formation state of irradiation with the discharge light 17 is imaged by a condition monitor 15, and an abnormality in film formation, a poor target, a crinkle of the collector substrate 2, and a transportation skew of the collector substrate 2 can be detected based on the imaged film formation state.
