PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and new upper press fitting groove type hot forming dryer capable of securely drying a treated object with a high water content to preform the treated object to have a stick shape with a several to ten millimeter-square of one edge, reducing load power, improving maintainability and having a high drying capacity. SOLUTION: In this device, a plurality of grooves 10 are formed at the lateral peripheral part of a cylindrical drying roller 1A (1B) along the circumferential direction, the treated object H1 is press-fitted into the groove 10, and the treated object H1 is dried by conductive heat from the drying roller 1A (1B). Then, the dried treated object H1 is scraped out from the inside of the groove 10 by a dried object scraper 3 to obtain a dried object H2.
