<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feed cassette for securing the smooth sliding displacement of a side fence while preventing the flotation of the side fence. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The paper feed cassette includes a release lever 7 provided on the side fence 3 normally engaged with a lock pawl 1c so as to be subjected to turning operation around a turning axis 6 of the side fence 3, the side fence 3 supported by a bottom wall 1a of the cassette body for abutting on the side face of transfer paper while being displaced along a guide 1b formed on the bottom wall 1a, an inside roller 8 rotatably held by the release lever 7 for abutting on the inner wall face of the bottom wall 1a so as to rotate along the extending direction of the guide 1b, and an outside roller 9 rotatably held by the side fence and abutting on the outer wall face of the bottom wall 1a when the side fence 3 is lifted up by the inside roller 8 abutting on the inner wall face of the bottom wall 1a accompanied by the turning operation of the release lever 7.
