摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved lock mechanism in an electric brake device that is used for both a service brake and a parking brake. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When the service brake is requested to operate, a drive member is moved in an axial direction, and a ball 114 is relatively moved in a service brake groove 124PR (b). When the parking brake is requested to operate, an electric motor is controlled in accordance with a predetermined pattern, whereby the drive member is moved in a P-direction and thereafter moved in a Q-direction. The ball 114 is removed from the service brake groove 124PR and accommodated in a parking lock groove 124PR via a refuge groove 124Q (f). Even if an acting force in the Q-direction is applied to the drive member in this state, the drive member is prevented from moving in the Q-direction, therefore, a parking brake force is retained even if a current is not supplied to the electric motor.
