<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight and lasting hammer shank. <P>SOLUTION: In a hammer shank 31, a synthetic resin is impregnated in a flange 31b which is a connection with a shank flange 30, so that the flange 31b can be prevented from absorbing moisture and expanding. Thus, by using the hummer shank 31, it can prevent a hammer 3 from being hard to rotate because of a large friction occurring between the hummer shank 31 and the shank flange 30 among an arrangement part 30a or the like, due to an expansion and deformation of the flange 31b, especially, arms 31c. Also, it is made possible to reduce the weight dramatically compared with the case of constituting the whole hammer shank 31 with the synthetic resin.
