PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding apparatus capable of easily performing an interchanging operation of a roll without using a heavy machine or the like, and to provide a recording apparatus and a recording method. SOLUTION: The holding apparatus 30(40) includes a holding apparatus body for holding a recording medium P before recording or after recording, and is constituted so that the holding apparatus body is attachable/detachable to/from a recording unit performing the recording on a recording medium, and a running means 55 is provided on the holding apparatus body.
