PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an angle of a control shaft with high precision in a variable valve train wherein characteristics of engine valve-opening are made variable by rotationally driving the control shaft by a brushless motor. SOLUTION: A reference angle of the control shaft is detected by an angle sensor made up of a potentiometer. Then, the angle of the control shaft is renewed by the amount of the resolution, for each time of rise and fall of pulse signals issued from the motor angle sensor provided in the brushless motor.
