PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for providing an alarm function in a portable device with a projector function are provided to combine a projector function with an alarm to supply alarm information through an external screen, thereby simultaneously providing visual elements and audible elements due to the alarm. CONSTITUTION: When an alarm is set by audio contents, a portable terminal extracts the set audio contents(S107). The portable terminal outputs alarm information corresponding to the audio contents(S109). When an alarm is set by video contents, the portable terminal extracts the set video contents. The portable terminal outputs alarm information corresponding to the video contents(S113). When an alarm is set by broadcasting contents, the portable terminal operates a broadcasting receiving module(S115).
